Description

Rosalie Peak is a Bi-Centennial Peak and the 198th tallest mountain in the state of Colorado according to old map elevations. West Pegmatite and Bandit were simply close to my route, so I added them to my day. Approximately 80 percent of this hike is on a trail, which allows for a fairly quick pace and faster time. The drive to the trailhead is not far off Highway 285 and can be accessed by a passenger car.

The hike from the trailhead all the way to the saddle between West Pegmatite and Rosalie is on a trail. From the saddle, it is a quick jaunt over to West Pegmatite. I returned to the saddle and then had about 1,600' to slog up the broad east ridge of Rosalie to the summit. I dropped off the south side of Rosalie and made my way over to Bandit Peak. From Bandit Peak, I went directly east for a little bush-whacking before I picked up the trail again and returned to the trailhead. It ended up being a lollipop hike starting and finishing on the well established Tanglewood Creek Trail.

I left my house at 4:15 am and left the trailhead at 5:30 am. I made the summit of West Pegmatite at 8:10 am, Rosalie at 9:40 am, Bandit at 10:40 am, and returned to the trailhead by 12:10 PM. I ended up on the trail for a total 6 hours and 40 minutes.
