Description
Since I had completed most of the other hikes in the general area of Blacktail Lake, I finished out the 1998 hiking season by completing the last trail available. The trailhead for this hike is also the beginning of the Moose Lake and Lake Estelle hikes. By this time of the year, there was little hiking traffic on the trails, but we did run into a few hunters. One individual visited with us for several minutes telling us about the elk he had hunted in this area. From the statistics, you can tell that the hike went rather fast with no difficulty. Blacktail Lake did have a sheet of ice over it, but we did not run into nearly as much snow as we had on the previous weekend at Gem Lake. With all the hikes done in this area, I had all winter to plan where to go in 1999.
