I got out a few times in 2002 and summitted four 12ers and the tallest peak in the Sawtooth Mountains. Although the frequency of hikes was down this year, the quality was high with several scrambles and more difficult hikes. Although access to the southern and eastern mountain ranges of Idaho was much easier than in the Idaho Panhandle, there is still a lot of driving to get to trailheads from Boise, Idaho, in many instances. Nevertheless, it was a relatively good hiking season and I even got back to the Seven Devils.
