After getting a taste of hiking in Idaho after moving there from North Dakota, I was excited to continue in 1999 after the winter. I used a northern Idaho guidebook extensively to figure out where to go. By the end of this year, I had completed several hikes within a two hour drive of Sandpoint, Idaho.
Looking back at some of the trip report and pictures 20 years later, I am somewhat embarrassed and can't believe what a newb I was. I definitely learned a lot quickly and gained experience, but the clothes I wore and gear I used when I started off are hilarious. I guess you live and learn with trial and error.
