Description

Five Mile Creek is located just outside of Boise, Idaho, up Rocky Canyon Road.  There isn't a whole lot to say about this hike as I was just taking advantage of the nice weather.  There were a lot of people on Rocky Canyon Road training for the upcoming Robie Creek Run, but I didn't see anyone on the Five Mile Creek Trail.  I found this hike in an old guide called The Trail Book Boise.  The book is no longer in print, but I photo copied a few hikes out of it from a friend.  I took the trail up to the prospect or quarry that is shown on the maps and then hiked cross country to a small high point to try and get some views.  Rather than returning the way I came in, I followed a ridge back out and picked up the trail about a mile from the trail head.
