Sunday morning Brian, Jeff, and Kevin went to Silverton, Colorado, for guided back country skiing. George, Abby, and myself went climbing in an area I had never been before. We started in the Alcove and ran a couple laps before heading to the Five Fingers area. George and I each lowered into climb some fresh steep ice. After this, we moved back to the Alcove but climbed on two new routes. These climbs also had less activity than the more popular routes we were on in the morning. After a couple of runs, I was getting a little worn out and pounded some sugar to revive myself. After the second trip to the Alcove, George and I decided to lower in just south of the upper bridge. I was afraid George would have to haul me out since it was late in the day and the routes are longer; however, the climbs were pretty beat out from the weekend and didn't prove as difficult as I expected.
After getting back to the house, we grabbed a beer and jumped back in the hot tub. Brian, Jeff, and Kevin returned to the house shortly after us to report on a great day of skiing. We all pitched in and helped Jeff prepare a Mexican dish for dinner. Most evenings, we visited, prepared for the next day, and watched climbing movies that George brought from home. George, Abby, and I had a full day of ice climbing in the park while Brian, Jeff, and Kevin enjoyed themselves in Silverton, Colorado.
