Description

I had not climbed The Shroud since 2012.  Avalanche conditions were low in Officer's Gulch and Nick and I only had a half day to get out, so we decided to check it out.  We didn't leave Denver, Colorado, until 10:30 am and didn't reach the base of the ice climb until 12:30 pm due to slower traffic.  We each led the right side of the falls at least twice and then the left side once before heading back to town.  The right side had an awkward finish that we both wanted a second shot at after struggling a bit the first time up.  The left side was fairly soft by the time we got on it, which resulted in good sticks and kicks but marginal protection.
