Description
Despite being to this climb relatively recently, Matt and I decided to check it out since he had never been there and was interested in climbing Secret Waterfall. A client and guide and another party of two were already at the flow at 9:30 am when we arrived. Positively, both groups left shortly after we got there and we had the Secret Waterfall to ourselves most of the day. The ice was in favorable conditions with either hero sticks and kicks on the right or beat out ice on the left. It was a good day of fun climbing.
I led the pitch five or six times throughout the day covering about every line possible. Matt initially top-roped the flow and finally worked up the nerve for his first WI3 lead. He did a great job placing protection and staying in control. Congratulations! We stopped in Golden, Colorado, for a couple of pints before heading to our respective homes and calling it a day.
