Description

I was working in Estes Park, Colorado, for a couple of weeks, so I decided to try and take advantage of the location of my assignment.  I didn't have a whole lot of daylight to work with, so my options were limited.  I perused the peakbagger.com website and found this peak close to town in Rocky Mountain National Park that wouldn't involve private property issues.  I went past the YMCA camp and drove to the end of the Tunnel Road where the trailhead was.  I simply followed the trail west until it turns sharply north to the summit of Emerald Peak.  It took me 30 minutes to get to the summit and 25 to get back down.  It was a better workout than walking around Estes Lake.  Certainly, short and sweet, but it was to a named peak, so I added it to my trip reports and peak list.
