Description

The original plan was to run some laps on Pumphouse Falls this particular morning; however, a part of three was already at the base of the climb when we arrived at the trailhead at 7:45 am. As a result, we hiked over to the Spiral Staircase hoping that climb was open. Fortunately, it was and I was able to get a few leads in up the easiest line. Nick led several more difficult lines before I top-roped a steep section and finished my day pumped out.

After this, we hiked over to The Fang and watched as a party was just finishing the climb and rappelling off. Since no one was queued up behind them, Nick decided to give this classic ice climb a go. Not surprisingly, Nick led The Fang cool, calm, and collectively. It was an honor to belay him on his first and successful ascent of the pillar.
